We are currently seeking a Site Accountant to work in our Lizard Island Resort to lead all of the accounting activities. The role could be based at the Resort or our Cairns office which would require frequent travel to the Resort.

Duties include:

  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports
  • Monitor daily resort reconciliations
  • Monitor and provide analysis for the property’s financial results including the management of the profit and loss statement to surpass the Business financial plan
  • Ensure accuracy of monthly reporting and expense allocations (including accurate accruals)
  • Analyse trends to identifying problems and opportunities for revenue and profit growth
  • Take a proactive approach to weekly financial reviews of the resort’s performance
  • Identify opportunities for expenditure reduction, including payroll
  • Manage, monitor and reconcile capital expenditure (individual projects and overall)
  • Monitor spend and petty cash
  • Manage the property’s cash floats and ensure that banking processes are adhered to
  • Assist in the development of the property’s annual financial plan and periodic forecasting
  • Assist in developing and monitoring monthly expenditure targets for all departments
  • Ensure all banking, accounts receivable/payable and stock management activities across the property are completed in compliance with Delaware North policy and applicable legislation

You will need:

  • Ideally at least five years experience gained in a similar role
  • Degree in Accounting / Finance 
  • Demonstrated success in profit and loss reporting and analysis, including monitoring and reporting of variances to plan and implementing actions to ensure targets are met
  • Understanding of relevant legislative regulations, codes of practice and industry standards
  • Excellent influencing, coaching and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong computer skills
  • High degree of maturity and ability to adapt to changing landscapes
  • Exposure to accounting activities in hospitality operations, resort or retail food and beverage is highly desirable.
