The Opportunity

Delaware North, based at the iconic Melbourne & Olympic Parks precinct and home to the Australian Open is seeking to appoint an experienced Project Logistics Manager on a fixed term Contract through to August 2018 with a possibility of a further extension.

In this newly created role, the successful candidate will be responsible to plan and execute the delivery and implementation of all Hospitality and catering infrastructure requirements for events including the Australian Open.

The Role

Reporting to the Projects & Development Manager or equivalent, you will provide operational support across all internal departments and are a key liaison with all stakeholders including clients, partners, contractors and suppliers relating to events, services, facilities and site redevelopment projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To manage the planning and procurement of all infrastructure requirements across the site as well as seeking relevant quotations and estimates in line with budgets;
  • Manage the event timeline for delivery of all infrastructure and FF&E on site and to ensure that all deadlines are achieved within budget and a results- orientated approach;
  • Ensure that all infrastructure and FF&E are placed, and installed into assigned spaces as programmed according to the overlay.
  • Manage multiple contractors and suppliers to coordinate the AO bump in, operation and bump out; and implement operating plans and procedures relating to these key deliverables.
  • To manage, motivate and direct a core team of staff essential to the coordination and set up of catering equipment and infrastructure.
  • Strict adherence to all OH&S requirements.
  • Complete administrative tasks with word processing, data input, reporting & maintaining the filing systems within the site office.
  • Assist and support with redevelopment and capital work projects as required across the venues and site.

Experience and Capabilities:

  • Strong planning, logistics and project management skills ideally developed in an event or Venue environment;
  • A highly organised self – motivated problem solver with a focus on being a hands on self-starter;
  • Superior attention to detail, organisation and time management skills to effectively manage both physical site activities and all administrative tasks;
  • A great multi-tasker, agile, flexible and adaptable to the ongoing needs and constant change of a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to think clearly, logically and strategically; particularly during periods of pressure
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding role (i.e. manual handling, labouring or warehousing);
  • Ability to engage, influence and work collaboratively across cross functional project teams including staff, consultants, contractors and stakeholder groups at varying levels to deliver desired outcomes;
  • Be computer literate with experience in the use of databases, Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Project
  • Experience in AutoCAD is highly regarded.
